He will likely be needed to make some big saves this weekend if Boro are to get something out of this game. DR - Jonny Howson - The last time Boro had an injury crisis like the current one, Jonny Howson had to fill in at right-back for Neil Warnock towards the end of his tenure in the Riverside hotseat. Howson actually performed well at that time and Carrick may need him again in this one, with Ipswich's style so similar to Boro's, with their left-back Leif Davis currently top of the assists table in the Championship. DC - Rav van den Berg - The young Dutchman had a difficult afternoon at Leeds last weekend but has largely had such a solid start for the club, particularly when considering he is just 19 and has spent so much of his playing time out of position. Back in the middle of the defence unless one of Fry or McNair are back, this will be another big test for Van den Berg. DC - Matt Clarke - On unexpectedly at Leeds after just 36 minutes, Clarke's first involvement at Leeds was to give away a penalty (albeit one that should have been ruled offside). Prior to that though he'd played only nine minutes of action since a year-long absence. He recovered well from that moment and was generally really solid after that. This is expected to be his first start since October 1, 2022. DL - Alex Bangura - While still early in their respective Boro careers, Bangura since getting back into the side has shown a little more confidence in possession than Lukas Engel, and he played a big role in Latte Lath's early opener last weekend. His pace means that while defence isn't his strong point, he can get back in and recover well when beaten. CM - Dan Barlaser - Gave away the ball cheaply for Leeds' first goal but was positive in possession for Boro in attack at Leeds. Potential Boro team vs Ipswich with injuries leading to big reshuffleMiddlesbrough host high-flying Ipswich Town this weekend, with Michael Carrick dealing with an injury crisis that severely depletes his options. Carrick could be without ten Boro players this weekend, with Anfernee Dijksteel and Isaiah Jones suspended and eight players currently injured. The majority of those players are not expected to be back for Ipswich's visit, though there is a little more uncertainty concerning the availability of Paddy McNair, Dael Fry and Hayden Hackney. RW - Sammy Silvera - Silvera has largely had to make do with cameos from the bench of late but produced a stunning goal in his last start at Exeter City in the cup. He's looked lively from the bench in recent games too, hitting the woodwork at both Bristol City and Leeds. With Jones suspended he's likely needed to start here, where he will then have the opportunity to earn the right to stay in the team. AM - Morgan Rogers - Rogers has played off the left in Boro's last two as Sam Greenwood dropped to the bench against Preston North End and was ineligible against his parent club Leeds. Rogers is likely to retain his place, though he might move into the more central role if Crooks has to drop into midfield. Carrick didn't give much away in his press conference, but it didn't sound overly optimistic and therefore in our predicted team below we have excluded the key trio. It's clear looking at the reshuffled pack, however, that any of them being involved would have hugely positive implications for Boro's starting line-up. He is still yet to fully establish himself since arriving at the club back in January but is growing. This current period is a great opportunity for him to prove he does deserve to start more games. CM - Matt Crooks - While usually a number ten this season, arguably Crooks' best form in a Boro shirt came under Chris Wilder when playing more of a box-to-box midfield role. If Howson is needed in defence and Hackney is still out, Crooks may have to drop deeper in this one, with the positive being his well-established connection with Barlaser stretching back to their Rotherham days. LW - Sam Greenwood - Boro's joint top-scorer in the league right now, Greenwood is likely to come back into the side against Ipswich. Capable of a moment of magic from nothing, Boro could really do with one this weekend against a very good side. ST - Emmanuel Latte Lath - The Ivorian striker netted two good goals at Leeds to take his tally to six in all competitions this season. Starting to find his feet and connect with team-mates, his proficiency in front of goal has him on track for 19 league goals at his current scoring rate. Never miss a breaking story again.
